Paul Crummy
Why did you join Amaroo Club?
I have positive connections with family, friends and colleagues on many levels but Amaroo has helped me to connect with people that bring a different perspective to me.
What’s your greatest achievement (personal or professional)?
Kids aside! In 2001 the company I worked for Ansett Australia was placed into administration, I had been there 13 years straight out of school and I was devastated, it was like a death in the family. I thought long and hard and decided to walk away from the industry where I was most comfortable and to give something new a try… when I look back now I am so grateful I made that choice to challenge my comfort zone.
What’s the one change you would like to see in the world?
I’d like to hear from everyday people talking about real issues, I’m really struggling watching politicians on the evening news right now, we have to do better.
What makes you laugh?
My golf game.
If you could invite three people from any era to your dinner party, who would they be?
I’m the youngest of 7 kids, my parents migrated from Ireland in the 40’s and I never met my grandparents, I’d really like to start there. I studied Ernst Shackelton’s Arctic adventures in the early 1900’s, I’d really like to talk leadership 1 on 1 with Ernst, he was ahead of his time.
What’s your favourite quote or piece of advice?
Jack Welch said something like…your best performer with the worst attitude needs to be hunted and culled from your organisation, I regularly reflect on something so simple yet powerful, this has helped me to make some tough people calls
What’s the best way for Amaroonians to connect with you?
Call me, email me, text me… I’d love to catch up and hear about you!
